Some old hardware to give away

I have a bunch of old hardware to give away.

  1. HP Workstation 3000 - some kind of PA CPU (Itanium predecessor?!), used to run HP/UX. I was intended to run NetBSD on it 15 years ago and that never happened. Now of unknown condition, haven’t been powered on for 15+ years.
  2. PS/2 (Playstation 2) with Linux Kit. With 40G HDD (special model only works for the PS/2). May need particular CRT monitor to work (need some special signal for sync, no idea what that meant), I have an old Sony Trinitron that used to work with it. Can give that away together. Unknown condition, haven’t been powered on for 15+ years. Last was running Linux kernel 2.2 something.
  3. HP Flatbed SCSI Scanner, should work well with old Macintosh. Unknown condition.
  4. Fujitsu SCSI MO (Magneto-Optical) Drive with like 10-15 MO Discs (either 230MB/600MB), may work well with old Macintosh. Unknown condition.
  5. Alpha Station from DEC (unknown model, unknown condition), only know it has an Alpha CPU. In theory it could run NT 3.1 if it still works. Unknown condition, never seen it in running condition.
  6. An old SCSI Tape drive (unknown brand, unknown model). Unknown condition.

In anyone is interested, please free feel to reply.
Regards,
Kelvin

I’m interested, but curious of the location?

I’m interested in the Sony Trinitron depending on size (I don’t have space for anything too big). Do you have the model number? Where would I need to pick up or ship from?

@hackgrid - I’d be interested in an Alpha station so I can work on tape recoveries from home

The Sony Trinitron is not a big one.
Must be either 14" or 16".
Let me dig it up from the garage and find out the model later.
I am living in Epping Sydney.

I live in Epping Sydney.
If you are near by, I am happy to drop it off.

I live in Epping Sydney.
I am happy to drop them off anywhere near me, say within 30 mins driving.

I wish I were local, as I’d love to pick up from you.
I realise it’s an inconvenience, but I do have a friend working on Salisbury Rd, Hornsby if you’re able to drop off. The PS/2 (Playstation 2) with Linux Kit, Fujitsu SCSI MO are interesting to me, if they’re still avaialble.

@orbii I am ok to drop the stuff off at Salisbury Rd Hornsby, just 25 mins driving away.
The PS/2 and the Fujitsu MO are yours now.
I am more than happy these stuff may have some further life.
Please give me contact of your friend and let’s arrange a time that I can drop the stuff off.
Do you want the Trinitron monitor for convenience?
At the time the PS/2 Linux Kit was released, there were instructions to build a special VGA connector for other brand monitor. Not sure if you can still find such instructions.
The Trinitron would just work, perhaps because of also Sony brand.
But I have no idea about the current condition of the monitor.
The Kit can connect to TV (I think, not 100% sure now). Gnome desktop (the last one used) just wouldn’t look nice at the TV resolution. A functional monitor would be more convenient.
And @itgrrl showed interest of the monitor, you guys may need to arbitrate.

did you find the model of the Trinitron?

I’ve sent you a message with details for drop-off.

I should be fine without the monitor - I have pin-out schematics for the VGA cable, and thankfully - an OSSC & 15khz-capable monitors that can sync on green. Appreciate the offer, though.

@itgrrl I will find that out in a few days. Had a check and found it was too deep in the garage and need time to move layers of stuff to reach it.

@orbii Do you want the PS/2 branded USB wired keyboard as well? I might still have the PS/2 branded mouse too (not 100% sure). They were parts of the linux kit.

If you can find the keyboard and/or mouse - i’d love them!
Happy to wait a few days if you need to dig them out

@orbii I will let you know when everything is ready to go. Hopefully in a few days.

@itgrrl The monitor is a Sony Multiscan 15sf II.

The HP workstation is actually of model Visualize B1000.
Quite a beautiful looking machine, right?!
It is so sad if I have to throw it away as rubbish.

@DigitalRampage I have been wrong for decades. It wasn’t an Alpha workstation.
It is another HP PA-RISC Model 712/60.
